Reheating

The Steam Hack

Reheating food in an air fryer beats the microwave in every way — except one. Air fryers can dry things out. Pizza gets crispy on top but the crust turns into a cracker. Bread reheats but loses its softness inside.

The fix is a small ramekin of water placed in the corner of the basket. As the water heats, it creates a gentle steam that keeps the interior of your food moist while the circulating hot air still crisps the exterior. It's the best of both worlds — crispy outside, soft inside.

Steps
01

Fill a small oven-safe ramekin with 2 tablespoons of water.

02

Place it in the corner of the air fryer basket.

03

Add your food alongside it (not touching the water).

04

Air fry at 325-350°F until heated through.

05

The steam keeps interiors moist while the exterior crisps.

Pro tips

Pro Tip

Use an oven-safe ramekin — not plastic, not thin glass.

Pro Tip

2 tablespoons is enough. More water just takes longer to heat up.

Pro Tip

This works great for reheating fried chicken — crispy coating, juicy inside.

Pro Tip

For pizza specifically, this is life-changing. Try it once and you'll never microwave pizza again.
